At Gary Bean Securities, we believe that privacy is important. We are committed to protecting your privacy in order to ensure that the confidentiality, security and accuracy of your personal information are maintained at all times.

As of January 1, 2004, new privacy legislation came into effect. Therefore, we want to clearly explain why we ask for your personal information, how we use the information, who we disclose personal information to and our commitment to your privacy.

What is Personal Information?

Personal information is any information that could specifically identify an individual. Examples include your address, Social Insurance Number, date of birth, personal financial records and employment information.

Why do we collect your personal information?

We collect personal information primarily through our new Client Application Form. When you provide us with your personal information, you consent to our collection, use, retention and disclosure of your information for the following purposes:

  • to understand and service your financial needs
  • to determine investment strategies and financial products most appropriate for you
  • to inform you about products and services that may meet your financial objectives and that we believe may be of interest to you
  • to provide you with on-going service and to answer any questions you may have about your account(s)
  • to verify your identity and to protect you and Gary Bean Securities against error and fraud
  • to satisfy legal and regulatory requirements
  • to otherwise carry out normal business operations

Who do we disclose your personal information to?

We may provide your personal information to other parties, such as service providers, who assist us in serving you and to other persons where we are required or permitted to do so by law. We may also provide your personal information to other persons where we have your consent.

We maintain security standards and procedures at Gary Bean Securities to protect your personal information. We will retain your personal information only for the time it is required for the purposes we explain or as required by law. We will provide you with reasonable access to your personal information on record and will make every reasonable effort to keep your personal information accurate and up-to-date.

By opening an account with us, you are providing your consent for us to collect, use and release your personal information. If at any time you wish to withdraw this consent, please advise us. However, please note that withdrawing consent may mean that we will be unable to provide certain services to you. Upon written request, an individual has the right to access personal information held by us and to challenge the completeness or accuracy of the information and have it amended as appropriate.
