But it should be known that this asset class is not the primary focus of our growing firm. Speculative investments at Gary Bean Securities are used as a compliment to the more substantial income trust, mutual fund and common share positions that comprise the bulk of our client assets.

When investing in more speculative investment vehicles our firm seeks long-term capital appreciation by choosing primarily small-capitalization companies that have proven management and a well-defined long-term growth strategy. Furthermore, we will seek specialized knowledge of the credibility and track record of company management, facts we believe to be critical to mitigating some risk in this volatile category. While bottom-up analysis of the individual companies is critical for these types of securities we will also apply a top-down approach analyzing both the market and industry that the selected company operates within. Undoubtedly our greatest successes in this asset class have come in the Oil & Gas and Metals & Mining sectors but we are not solely focused on these industries.
